Do you want to work as an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor?
The RYA Yachtmaster qualification is recognised internationally as one of the premier sailing qualifications that you can achieve. As a result, the RYA does have some challenging requirements to ensure that their standards are high.

To become an instructor;
  • Have compelted your RYAcoastal skipper theory course within the past 5 years. You do NOT need to have your exam invigiated.
  • Have been recognised as a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore or RYA Yachtmaster Ocean.
  • A Sea Survival Safety Certificate recognised by your home jurisdiction
  • Radio Operators Certificate of Proficinecy with satelite endorsement
  • Passed a required Medical
  • Completed and passed the RYA yachmaster instructors course.
  • Complete all requirements to be commercially endorsed
    • Proffessional Practices and Responsibilities Certificate
    • Completed the commercial endorsement application form
You do not need to have your RYA coastal skipper exam invigilated to become an instructor, as you will have covered the requirements when you complete the course. Unless you have mastered the knowledge and have experience beyond what is required in the course, it is unlikely you will pass.

Instructors from other yachtmaster schemese are unable to transfer the qualifications directly. You will need to complete the RYA courses in order to do so. This ensures that you have completely covered the RYA syllabus requirements and ensures a minimum uniform standard.
